The Museo Nacional del Prado, cultural jewel of Spain and one of the most visited museums in the world, houses an impressive collection of magnificent masterpieces by Velázquez, Rubens, Titian, Mantegna, Hieronymus Bosch, Goya, El Greco, and other geniuses of painting, that tell the story of Spain and of an entire continent.

In 2015, with the aim of making its unparalleled educational content available to web users, the Prado Museum joined iTunes U. The site contains hundreds of lectures from the annual and summer courses of the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado, as well as talks by internationally renowned art historians such as Francis Haskell, Robert Rosenblum or Alfonso Pérez Sánchez; writers like John Berger, Arturo Pérez-Reverte or Antonio Muñoz Molina; or artists like Bill Viola or Eduardo Chillida.

The Prado commissioned us to make the launch video that would convey the immense value of this new digital activation point for the institution. One of the goals was to emphasize the large number of personalities of art and culture who have contributed to a better knowledge of the museum’s collection of wonders, and this idea is suggested through mosaics that present dozens of illustrious speakers giving lectures in different courses and activities of the institution.

A minimalist approach gives the video a modern yet timeless look that feels accessible and contemporary. A sound design that blends audios of lectures and talks with the luminous piano music composed by Rafa Guillermo, has staying power while paying homage to the incredible heritage of the museum.
