EPS has collaborated with Ferre on a new brand identity that reinforces the company’s position as a pioneer and leader in the manufacture of low-impact, high-quality recycled yarns.
Since Recover, the company’s flagship brand, was to start its own journey as a global recycled fiber business in December 2020, the first challenge was to form the basis of Ferre’s new identity: create a new brand name, unify the company’s sub-brands under one coherent brand architecture and build a brand narrative. We suggested changing the old-fashioned name of the company, Hilaturas Ferre, to simply Ferre, the family name by which the Spanish spinning mill has been known in the world market for decades. Easy-to-pronounce, direct, fundamental and symbolic, the new name was a natural fit for the legacy brand.
Although the identity’s primary typeface is Akkurat (designed by Laurenz Brunner for Lineto), chosen for its elegant precision and perfect readability, we created “Ferre Sans”, a bespoke typeface inspired by the movement of the warp and weft as they interlace to form the fabric. Used to create the main logo, the symbol and the product families logos, Ferre Sans is central to visual identity in all digital and print applications. A color palette that incorporates digital colors and a cinematic approach to video and photography, along with the company’s tagline: “Empowering circular fashion since 1947”, provide a perfect blend of newness and heritage.
We worked closely with the Ferre team to develop the information architecture and create all the content for the new website, a comprehensive resource that highlights the company’s purpose, history, values, processes and products.
EPS was also tasked with developing the content strategy and designing a cohesive visual system that would work across social channels. We centered on the new messaging and visual assets to create compelling content, unleash the full range of expression that the new identity allows, and bring the brand’s positioning to life.
