Building on the branding we created in 2007 and redesigned in 2011, we have developed the new on-air identity for Canal Hollywood, the leading pay TV film channel in Spain and Portugal.
In 2018 the main challenge was to elevate the look and feel of the channel to bring it in line with the streaming platforms and the social channels and capture the 21st century audience, but in a way that felt true to its classic roots.
The new on-air identity employs an approach to color, typography and movement marked by the need to catch up. The blue color of the logo remains but the brand becomes more luminous with a bright dark blue that replaces black and the addition of three new vibrant colors: green, orange and purple, that tune in to a digitized world. The materiality of the type, Druk Bold (designed by Berton Hasebe for Bloomberg Businessweek), has the expressive, loud energy of headlines.
The concept for the animated idents is built around striking graphics and kinetic textures that capture the glitz and shine of cinema in graphic bands that slide across screen.
